The Pathways Program was created by the Canadian Music Competition Southern Alberta Committee to offer a strong, sustainable classical music festival for participants.
Participants perform before an audience and receive oral and written feedback from distinguished clinicians and pedagogues. Eligible participants may also be considered for the CMC National Finals or AMFA Provincials.

To promote the musical art form, further its development and teaching, and make it more accessible by supporting musicians and others dedicated to studying it or pursuing it as a career.

A brief history
The Canadian Music Competition was founded in Montreal in 1958 by Claude Deschamps, Pierre Emond, and Charles Charrère. Originally known as the Festival de musique du Québec, it expanded beyond Quebec in 1971 and became the Canadian Music Competition.
For more than 65 years, the Canadian Music Competition has supported young classical musicians through performance opportunities, high-level feedback, and national competition.
